Running

Running Background
I’ve run a lot of races since I took up running in 2005. I started racing in 2007 and haven’t really stopped since then. I’ve raced in 26 races (including my year of triathlons) in 4 years and 7 half marathons.  If you want more information than you ever dreamed about my racing history, check out my old about me page.  As proud as I am about all my races, I’ve set my eyes on a new goal: I want to get a new PR in my half marathon. My PR was set on October 17, 2009 and is long overdue.
Here’s a history of my half marathon times (in minutes):
I’m finally back on the downward slope and hope to continue that trend and make the chart go lower than ever come this fall.
I’ll be running the Indianapolis Half Marathon on October 15, 2011 (2 weeks before the wedding). I’ve run the course once before and as you’ll see below I set my current PR on this course. Really that makes me an oddball because it is a much hillier and therefore harder case than the Mini Marathon, but obviously I like that course.
Training Plan
I’m going to use Run Less Run Faster plan. I’ve used this book before with some success. I like the plan because you run 3 times a week with 2 days of cross training. I’ve been injured before (stress fracture a month before the 2007 Mini Marathon, which I still ended up running!) so I want to do whatever I can to train healthy and train well. I’ll post my specific training plan within a few weeks. I also plan to train for a few sprint triathlons. Looking back at my race history, it became apparent to me that the year I devoted to triathlon was also the year I ran my half marathon PR. That cross training obviously helped!
